    The Rules
All exploits that are inherent in the game can be used. Hot-seat modus or use of a trainer are not allowed.

To participate in the contest you must download the starting save from here (available at start time) and submit a save of New Years Eve for each year. In order to make the final standings you must play to the end of 1302.

A player can stop at any time by declaring his/her save the end-save. Once an end-save has been submitted, it cannot be changed, i.e. by the player continuing to play. A save must be submitted for every year up to the end-save, but a player can withhold submission until (s)he has decided on the end-save to submit. It is not allowed to declare a prior year’s save, which has been submitted, as the end-save.

Please submit your saves (preferably zipped) to patrizier2007@yahoo.de

Please save the game identifying your nick and the year i.e. bizpro1300 without using any spaces. The subject line of the email should include the same information. The email should also include if you anticipate to continue to play or if the save is your endsave and the date of acceptance of a mission to found a new production town.

Upon review, a juror will provide a short commentary and calculate the points for the year, both of which will be published in regular intervals. (The translations will be available here within a few days after being posted on the German side.) However, due to the dynamic nature of the evaluation system, these values will change as new submissions for the same year are reviewed and tabulated. Upon request you will receive, via email, a comprehensive review of your game. This request should be in the body of your email.
All reviewed saves will be available for download; there is nothing wrong with having a look how others play the game. ;)

    Jurors in alphabetical order:
    Amselfass, bizpro, Hopsing, Tristan

Saves will be tabulated for every year so you can, at any time, see how you are faring. (Link to follow)

    Evaluation
Points are determined using the following three criteria:

    1. Satisfaction

The satisfaction level for all three social groups (starting towns only) will be determined by allocating 6 for very happy, 5 for happy, 4 for very satisfied, 3 for satisfied, 2 for unsatisfied and 1 for annoyed. Scoring is individually per social class. If, i.e. the average for wealthy people in all starting towns is 4.6 and a player achieves 4.6 then (s)he will receive 100 points. For any decimal point above, bonus points will be awarded as follows: 4 points for rich, 2 points for wealthy and 1 point for the poor. For any decimal point below one point will be deducted.
    Examples:
Average satisfaction for poor is 4.6, wealthy is 3.5 and rich is 3.0
Player A has an average of poor 4.8, wealthy 4.0 and rich 3.6, Poor are 2 points above average so 2 extra points are allotted. Wealthy are 1 point above aberage for 2 extra points; rich are 6 points above average for 24 bonus points.
Player B has an average of poor 4.2, wealthy 3.8 and rich 2.9. Poor are 4 points below average for a deduction of 4 points; wealthy are 3 points below average fo a deduction of 3 points; rich are 1 point below average for a deduction of 1 point.

    2. Social structure

The average of all starting towns and recognized new production towns will be computed and bonus points/deductions are determined based on the average of all saves submitted for the year. Again, 100 points are attached to the average value. For each percentage point above the average (of all sumitted saves) value for wealthy and rich, the player receives 1(wealthy) or 2(rich) bonus point and, for each value below the average one point will be deducted.
    Examples:
Calculated average of all saves 70/20/10.
    Player A has 75% poor, 18% wealthy and 7% rich. (S)he will receive the following points: rich are 3% = 30 points below averge so (s)he will score 70 (100 - 30); wealthy are 2% = 20 points be;ow average so (s)he will score 80 (100 - 20) points.
    Player B has 63% poor, 22% wealthy and 15% rich. Rich are 5% = 50 points above average so (s)he will receive 200 points (100 + 2 * 50). Wealthy are 2% = 20 points above average so (s)he will receive 120 points (100 + 20)

    3. Development
Each recognized new production town, that is completed within 6 months will be worth 50 points. Each additional month needed to complete costs 1 point. That means, a new production town completed in 24 month gives you just 32 points. Only one new town per year will be counted. Limit is year 1314, no production towns acknowledged after 1314 will be considered. However, for any production towns which, at the time of your end save, have not yet been credited, you will receive 5 points per town.

    4. Productivity
Points for standing regarding total production, in barrels for all submitted saves. I.e. 30 saves were submitted for the year, the top candidate gets 30 points and the one with the lowest production gets 1 point.

    Final Standings
Your final standing is the average of all your submitted saves.
    [u]Examples:{/u]
Player A has the following scores:
    1300: 410 pts
    1301: 500 pts
    1302: 550 pts
During the period 5 new production towns have been recognized. The final standing will be: (410+500+550)/3 + 15 points (for the 3 production towns that have not yet been credited, since only one counts per year) for a total of 501.7 (1460/3 + 15) points.

  • There is a problem. The ZIP files, unzipped, work fine.

But the other links, the .pst and .pat files, if loaded directly, crash Patrician 3.

For American players, I would recommend just unzipping the files until the problem is fixed.

  • CAVEAT
    See inserted message above. :oldman:

The files are identical, and, unzipping, avoides the default trap. I have tested the files in both, P II Gold and P III extensively. I know of other players who tried the map and found it rather challangeing. So, it works.
